Advocacy Matters

EVE service users complete Irish Advocacy Network training courses

It was a genuine privilege for the Irish Advocacy Network to facilitate Self Advocacy training with EVE members. The enthusiasm and committment from praticipants was impressive, as was the willingness and capacity to learn and contribute to discussions that took place during each training session. We hope that those who particiated feel better informed of their rights; feel more confident and able to speak up for themselves. Ulitmately, we hope the course has helped participants achieve positive change in their lives, improve relationships with others and that the experience contributes to their ongoing recovery.

IAN would like to express its gratitude to EVE, in particular its members whom we took much inspiration and learning from. Those whose details are now included on our waiting list for Peer Advocacy training may be interested to know that we have managed to reach the second round in our Genio funding application. If successful, we will be in a position to invite people to interview for the course. As a reminder, this course is accredited by Dublin City University and runs for about eight weeks. Those who successfully complete it can apply for a variety of jobs where advocacy or peer support is encouraged.

Fingers crossed we will be in a position to invite people to interview. So watch this space!!
