Dream Come True for Estuary Participant

Ciaran an official at 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games

The 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games open on the 25th of July 2015 in Los Angeles, California. The 2015 Games will feature competitions in aquatics, gymnastics, track and field, basketball, football (soccer) and many more. It will involve 7,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities from around the world.

Representing Ireland as a table official in the basketball will be a talented EVE Estuary participant, Ciaran Bailey. Ciaran became an official after he was unable to play basketball anymore due to health reasons. This is a huge honor as Ireland is the first country to have Special Olympians officiate at the games.

Ciaran has officiated at numerous Special Olympic basketball matches at local and regional games, and is delighted and to be travelling to Los Angles in 2015. We wish Ciaran the very best of luck in his role at the games.
