Living Well: Working Well

Resilience Seminar 2019

Phoenix Clubhouse, EVE

As part of Health & Wellbeing Week 2019 jointly hosted by South Dublin County Partnership and South Dublin County Council, Phoenix Clubhouse were very proud and honoured to have been given the opportunity to make a presentation showcasing their wonderful service and highlighting the work that goes on every day in the clubhouse at the Resilience Seminar in Áras Chrónáin on Wednesday September 11th.

Health & Wellbeing Week ran from 9th to the 15th September and provided a diverse range of opportunities in the South Dublin area for involvement by everyone in their community in new experiences that will positively influence their health into the future ranging from nutrition seminars and mindfulness to physical fitness and sports for all abilities.

Phoenix 4

This year's seminar focused on the importance of our mental health. With that in mind this year's keynote speaker was Dr. Harry Barry: a general practitioner in the Irish health system and published author of numerous texts related to his area of interest (the management of anxiety, depression and toxic stress as well as the prevention of suicide). The seminar was very well attended, with many local support organisations giving talks on their various areas of expertise.

Phoenix 2

It was however Phoenix Clubhouse members Tom and Janice who stole the show with their very engaging account of their own personal experiences. The guys were the main reason for the success of Phoenix Clubhouse presentation and the reception they received from the assembled crowd reflected this.

All in all it was a great experience for members and staff alike and Phoenix Clubhouse look forward to getting involved in more experiences like this as they arise in the future, together as a clubhouse.
