Ronan Mulhern, Cairdeas Clubhouse Manager, attended the awards ceremony in Dublin’s Gibson Hotel to collect the Gold Active@Work Award on behalf of Cairdeas Clubhouse. The award, which is given by the Irish Heart Foundation, is the culmination of a lot of hard work by Cairdeas members and staff to improve physical activity levels in the clubhouse. It was also part of their goals for 2019 in their Service Plan and Healthy Ireland Plan.
Cairdeas Clubhouse put together a portfolio for the award, documenting all the great physical activities they undertook throughout the year including working outside in the garden as part of their Catering unit work ordered day, walking clubs during lunchtime and also during non-core activities, doing the HSE Steps to Health Challenge, their regular basketball matches with Rehabcare Bray, and their 6-week Tai Chi Programme in the community.
The award was presented by Karl Henry, fitness expert, broadcaster and author, and Tim Collins, CEO of the Irish Heart Foundation. The award will take pride of place in Cairdeas Clubhouse so look out for it in reception when you visit!
